The core of our program is the practice of spiritual companionship.
At City House, we travel with our clients--listening, offering and asking. We work to open up new perspectives and insights. We help to point out the possibilities along the way. We tend to the soul. We currently have 28 volunteer spiritual companions serving at 15 social service sites, providing more than 3,000 spiritual companion visits each year.

Our spiritual companions accompany individuals and groups through spiritual journeys and discoveries. We promote inner strength and fulfillment rather than a particular religious faith.

The souls we serve are or have been homeless, prison inmates and those dealing with chemical dependency. Our goal is to provide spiritual companionship and guidance to our clients and to promote a return to self-reliance.

Volunteer Spiritual Directors provide one-on-one and on-site group spiritual direction at our partner social service agencies. We invite you to volunteer with City House.
