Because of a deep concern for the increasing number of spiritually homeless souls, the idea of City House was built. The staff of City House brings their care and compassion for this work in addition to their experience and training.
Tom has worked with people in the midst of their homelessness, helped men coming out of prison to get jobs, been personally involved with Twelve Step work, facilitated many experiences for more-mainstream people to encounter and connect with people from the margins of society. Tom has a master’s in Theology from the University of Notre Dame in S. Bend, Indiana (1991) a master’s in “Conflict Facilitation and Organizational Change” from the Process Work Institute in Portland, Oregon (2009) and has completed family Mediation Training at Hamline University.
Program Director: Jennifer Pedalty
jennifer@city-house.org, 612-234-1136 Jennifer Pedalty has been a journalist, communications manager for a major medical device manufacturer, and a marketing communications business owner. This year she will receive a Master of Arts in Theology degree and Spiritual Direction certification from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Five years as a Stephen Minister in her church ignited Jennifer’s passion for walking with people in transition or crisis as a compassionate listener. She founded a foot washing ministry, and with a few others from her church, began serving at Listening House, a living room for the poor in downtown St. Paul. Meeting the homeless “wherever they are in their spiritual life” while offering physical relief for tired feet provided an experience of the gifts of connection exchanged between people in the margins and the mainstream. With City House, Jennifer has volunteered at Reentry Metro for two years, meeting as a spiritual companion with women moving from prison and other programs into society, and has also co-led a men’s spirituality group at Progress Valley. Administrative and Finance Manager: Kara Ferguson
kara@city-house.org Kara Ferguson has served as a community organizer, business manager, organic farmer, and founded her own socially-purposed computer consulting firm. Committed to building a better community, she ran an organic farm for inner city children and helped to create local food communities throughout Minnesota. Through all her work and play, she strives for a meaningful life. City House has 28 volunteer spiritual companions that serve in our core program and a team of trainers that lead our training programs. |
